Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website and to feel welcome in our shop. This statement explains what we have done and how to tell us when we have fallen short.

1. Our commitment
YoYums is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or reduced-motion settings. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard most commonly used to judge whether a website is accessible.
2. What we have done
- Text alternatives. Every meaningful image has a written description, so it makes sense to someone who cannot see it. Purely decorative shapes are hidden from assistive technology.
- Colour contrast. Body text and headings are set in colours that meet or exceed the AA contrast requirement against their background, so the site stays readable in bright light and for people with low vision or colour blindness.
- Keyboard access. Every link, button and form field can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, and there is a visible focus outline so you can always see where you are. A "Skip to content" link is the first thing you reach on any page.
- Forms. Every field has a permanent visible label, not just placeholder text, and any error is announced in plain language.
- Clear labels. Buttons say what they do — "Get directions", "Send message", "Load the map" — rather than relying on an icon alone.
- Motion. Scroll animations are subtle, and if your device is set to reduce motion they are switched off entirely.
- Structure. Headings follow a logical order, pages have a single main heading, and landmarks such as the header, navigation and footer are properly identified so screen-reader users can jump between them.
- Touch targets. Buttons and links are sized generously so they are comfortable to tap on a phone.
- Zoom and reflow. The layout adapts to small screens and remains usable when text is enlarged.
3. Known limitations
We are honest about where we are not yet perfect. The embedded Google map in the Visit section is supplied by Google and its internal accessibility is outside our control — we therefore always show our full address in plain text next to it, and a "Get directions" link that opens your own maps application. If you find anything else that does not work for you, we would genuinely like to know.
4. Visiting the shop in person
If you would like to know more about physical access to our shop — entrance, seating or anything else you need before your visit — please call us on (573) 536-6119 and we will be glad to talk it through with you. Our team is happy to help you at the counter if self-serve is difficult for any reason.
5. Tell us what you think
If you run into a barrier on this website, please let us know. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what went wrong. We will do our best to fix it and, where we can, to get you the information you needed in another way in the meantime. Call (573) 536-6119 or use our contact form.
6. How this statement was prepared
This statement was prepared by reviewing the website against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria, including contrast measurement, keyboard-only navigation testing, and checking that every image has a meaningful text alternative. It was last reviewed on October 16, 2026. Our address is 122 E High St, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
